If books could speak…

To start this new adventure I will be sharing inspiration from the little things in life, someone once told me that all the little things accumulate enough to create the big things. The first official blog will be inspired by print, ink, and love…

#1: Books

I wondered in to a wood,

where there stood,

a cabin full of books,

Each of which had a unique color, shape and size. I searched the shelves filled with color blues, blacks, yellows and reds until one took me by surprise. A hazel-green cover with gold lettering caught my attention. I walked closer passed the maze of pages, you were a hard bound book sturdy, strong, and protected.

Your pages were bound by a solid spine unflinching to those who try to tear them from their place. If books could speak they would reveal the small details that fill your pages, where you’ve been, who you’ve loved, and how you see yourself.

If books could speak they would reveal how many pages make up your story and how many still remain unwritten. If books could speak I would ask them to tell me all your stories, and flip through the many pages already present to disclose all of your characteristics the hurt, the love, and the happiness. If books could speak I would ask them to teach me all your quirks and mannerisms, I would ask them to teach me all the littlest facets because you are my favorite book. All I want to do is smell your pages, feel the rough texture from that they’ve endured, and read the sweet sentences articulating your essence in hopes you would teach me something new to fill my own pages.

If books could speak they would advise me of the length of your pages that already describe an abundance of knowledge, but I will not be afraid for your table of contents will guide me through your narrative, through the extent of your hard bound cover. My soft-covered existence may not have the length of pages…but I have little secrets too…if books could speak I would ask them to be apart of your remaining pages for I have fallen for the smell, the texture, and the many sentences that already exist within your hard bound cover.

“Just living is not enough…one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower”   Hans Christian Anderson

I wondered in to a wood,

where there stood,

a cabin full of books,

and in its nooks,

I discovered,

and uncovered,

a lovely story,

in all its glory,

that story was you,

and I didn’t have a clue,

how I could fall weak,

If only books could speak…

*Inspiration for these words came from that night at the book store with you walking through the lanes of hard and soft cover books deciding the good books from the bad based on their smell. Thank you for that evening entertaining my odd fascinations, this is written for you. Thank you.
